CFP Company History
In 1975, you may have thought you looked far out in your leisure suit and couldn’t wait to get down with The Hustle. If you were a homebody, you may have preferred to chill with your Pet Rock or Atari Pong game. If you were looking to become a leader in the Air and Vacuum Industry, you started Combined Fluid Products Company, “worked your butt off” to make it happen, and had some fun along the way!
Founders Ray Becker, Bruce Nesser, and Bill Kist took their individual talents to create just this type of company - one that brought value through years of application experience and technical problem solving. Feeling confident that they could offer “the right product, at the right price, at the right time,” they gained the credibility of the customers they served and the manufacturers they represented. This credibility was enhanced by their policy to act with integrity and take responsibility for their mistakes. In short, by doing the right thing.
One key philosophy the trio shared was to recruit the most promising talent possible, provide the training and tools needed to succeed, and then pretty much leave each individual alone to thrive. According to Bill, “It remains important for our people to grow and succeed. We all offer unique talents, and if we are able to help our co-workers develop their skills and build relationships with our customers and the companies we represent, we are all better off for it”.
In 2007, Bill was ready to step down from the Company and leave it in the-more-than-capable hands of his two sons, Gregory and Randall. Although the core values have not changed, Gregory and Randall have developed and implemented a variety of improvements to the operation including enhanced quality control and record keeping systems, a state-of-the-art ERP system, bar code inventory management, CAD drawing capability, new products, and a content rich E-commerce website offering unprecedented information and capabilities. Not unlike the initial investments made over 40 years ago, these enhancements greatly increase the ability to communicate with customers while adding to the efficiency, accuracy, and pleasure of the customer experience. According to Gregory and Randall, “CFP will remain on the cutting edge of the Air and Vacuum Industry through investment, employee training, product expansion, and customer-focused innovation”.
Clothing, music, and equipment have changed over the years. What remains constant at CFP are our core values and a desire to grow in partnership with our customers and suppliers by serving them with excellence and integrity. CFP will continue to be an industry leader because it is a company that treats co-workers, customers, and suppliers with respect, and will do what it takes for everyone to succeed.
Right on!
