50 Years of CFP: Remembering the Past, Looking to the Future
In 1975, founders Ray Becker, Bruce Nesser, and Bill Kist took their individual talents to create a company, leveraging years of application experience and technical problem solving. Feeling they could offer “the right product, at the right price, at the right time,” they gained the credibility of the customers they served and the manufacturers they represented. This credibility was enhanced by their policy to act with integrity and always try to do the right thing.
One key philosophy the trio shared was to recruit the most promising talent possible, provide the training and tools they needed to succeed, and then step back to allow the employees to thrive. According to Bill, “It remains important for our people to grow and succeed. We all offer unique talents, and if we can help our co-workers develop their skills and build relationships with our customers and the companies we represent, we are all better off for it.”
In 2007, Bill was ready to step back from the company and let his two sons, Gregory and Randall, take the lead. Although the core values have not changed, Gregory and Randall have developed and implemented a variety of enhancements to the operation, including more comprehensive quality control and record-keeping systems, a state-of-the-art ERP system, bar code inventory management, CAD drawing capability, new products, and a content rich E-commerce website. According to Gregory and Randall, “CFP will remain on the cutting edge of the air and vacuum industry through investment, employee training, product expansion, and customer-focused innovation.”
While much of life has changed since 1975, what remains constant at CFP are our core values and a desire to grow in partnership with our customers and suppliers by serving them with excellence and integrity. CFP will continue to be an industry leader because it is a company that treats colleagues, customers, and suppliers with respect. We will always do what it takes for everyone to succeed.
