They have no metal-to-metal contact, they can pass liquids and small solids without damage, and they are available in a variety of materials and seal fluid arrangements for process compatibility. For applications with thermally sensitive, aggressive, or explosive gasses, liquid ring vacuum pumps also provide near isothermal compression for the utmost in process safety.
